The comprehensive measurements have already been taken
of boundary layer parameters, pressure fields, and flight dynamics figures
at large Mach and Reynolds numbers. The Institute conducts theoretical
and experimental research into flight dynamics at supercritical angles
of attack (supermaneuverability, spin, highspeed stall) and develops
dynamic aircraft models under aerodynamic lag.

The basic research is carried out into the principles of
constructing advanced concepts of multilevel aircraft control systems.
This research is performed aboard the flying labs with variable stability
and controllability parameters, based on the Tu-154 and Su-27 planes. The
Institute's scientists have developed (and are improving it now) the theory
of icing formation on the parts of aircraft, the evaluation being presently
conducted of the effect of ice blocks' shapes and sizes upon aerodynamics
in general, and aircraft's dynamics in particular.
